CENTREPIECE AT MELBOURNE PARK, VICTORIA

The client Melbourne Parks with NH Architects carried out an exhaustive investigation into the best option for the seating required at the new CentrePiece event and function centre. There were a large number of chairs proposed and samples reviewed for suitability over a period of weeks. The chair needed to be lightweight, and have the ability to stack high so that the floorspace required when the chairs were stored would be kept to a minimum. There was also the focus on comfort and longevity of the chair which would be heavily used in the media rooms, the dining halls, and the conference rooms which are housed in the new building. The benefit of the Randers and Radius DRY chair was its PUR membrane which meant that liquid could be wiped off easily without damage to upholstery fabric. The PUR membrane also moulds to the shape of the user making it the most comfortable option over long periods in the seated position. The chair has a strong aesthetic appeal with its simple square lines and range of color options. The satin chrome frame was specified as it was less likely to show scratches from stacking. The chair is well designed and the shells are protected when in the stacked position. There was also a number of trolleys supplied specifically to transport and store the DRY chair. The building was completed in time for the 2022 Australian Open and the chairs have been very well received with a large range of conferences and events having taken place at the stunning CentrePiece building.
