Functionality in Timeless Design

Segis embodies a philosophy that transcends the creation of furniture. For Segis, a chair is not just a chair; it's a mood, an experience crafted with love, that goes beyond functionality. Each piece is meticulously designed to not only work well and endure the test of time but also to be interchangeable in components, extending the lifespan of pieces and sharing commonalities with other Segis furniture design.

Established in 1983 in the town of Poggibonsi, Italy, Segis has evolved into a symbol of cultural elegance, tracing its genesis from the Renaissance period through the creation of handmade decorative objects for aristocrats. With technologically advanced production facilities in both Italy and Vietnam, Segis is a leading force in the design and manufacture of innovative furniture, seamlessly blending functionality and aesthetics.

UNO

Design Bartoli Design, Fauciglietti Engineering

Inventive, original surprising mix of resistance and comfort, the result of a precise balance of materials, lives in the Uno chair which won the XXI Compasso d’Oro.

The company is at the forefront of design paradigms, bringing together varying technical, productive, and creative skills in a harmonious collaboration with its designers. This synergy results in products designed to enrich workplaces, hospitality spaces, and educational environments.

DRAGONFLY CANTILEVER

Design Odo Fioravanti

Dragonfly was inspired by the body of a dragonfly, characterised by an imbalance of weight between the legs and cantilevered tail. This biophilic inspired seating appears to challenge gravity, with the shell’s vertical ribs mimicking wings.

The Segis commitment to innovation applies to both design and materiality. Through an internal design centre collaborating with international designers, the company embraces global design expertise. From Bartoli to Matteo Thun, from Sottsass to  Fioravanti, Segis draws inspiration from diverse minds, contributing to the unmistakable creativity that defines its products.

SLIDE

Design Matteo Thun

Slide exemplifies a chair that belongs to the collective memory yet appears contemporary. With modern material, such as polycarbonate, slide enhances the simplicity of mid-century design with its minimal shape and attention to detail. Aesthetically refined Slide is also practical, with a handle in the back that allows for ease of movement.

HAMMER

Design Favaretto & Partners

Hammer, blends elegance and sophistication with the tub chair. A die-cast aluminium element joins the front legs and circular structure; a detail that for its originality and appeal inspired the name of the collection. Hammer stands tall in every interior space, lobbies, meeting rooms, hotels, and collaborative areas.

Franco Dominici, the visionary behind Segis, chose Tuscany for its quality of life and the ability to produce high-quality products that respect the materials used. Segis products are designed for longevity, unlike disposable furniture. Take, for instance, the seamless dual material chair 'Breeze' by Carlo Bartoli, a high-demand product with reuse and repair considerations, allowing for easy separation of materials and replacement of seats and backrests.

BREEZE

Design Carlo Bartoli

An award-winning stacking chair with the simplicity of form and function,
Breeze is essential for any environment. It is perfect for indoor or outdoor
use, exemplified by its place in the Vitra Design Museum since 1996.

Materials play a crucial role in Segis' commitment to sustainability. The company was an early adopter of injected moulding, introducing chairs with air moulding technology, a considerable technical challenge. The use of noble plastics like polypropylene, highly recyclable even after two decades, showcases Segis' dedication to responsible manufacturing and commitment to exploring regenerative and recyclable materials.

TRONO

Design Sottsass Associati

Pop culture and contemporary design describes Trono. Born from a project with Sottsass Associati Design, Trono is iconic design. Made from a single injection of various techno polymers Trono brings a sense of excitement to interior spaces including residential, hospitality, public spaces and workplace environments.

PACIFIC

Design George J. Sowden

Made with air moulding technology in a single injection of recyclable
polypropylene reinforced with fibreglass Pacific is unique. The chair
designer Sowden, worked at the heart of the Italian radical design
movement which enabled him to become, in 1981, a founder member
of Memphis, a group that defined the Post-Modern movement.

In essence, Segis has mastered the art of creating pieces that transcend mere functionality. They are timeless works of art, embodying a perfect balance between ability and sensibility, contributing to the transformation of the world around us and the way we live in it. They are influenced by the natural world, with careful considerations in materiality, repairability and design longevity.

Segis furniture is highly collectable, designed to be passed down from generation to generation, a testament to the enduring power of thoughtful design and craftsmanship.
