Peace Industry
Peace Industry, founded in 2002, revitalises the traditional Iranian craft of felt rug-making, known as Namad. This ancient method has deep roots in Iranian history but faded over time in favour of knotted rugs. Operating its own workshop near Esfahan, Iran, Peace Industry employs master artisans to preserve and evolve this historic technique.
Each rug is handmade from 100% lamb’s wool using a meticulous, chemical-free process. Washing the wool with olive soap and water plays a key role in creating their signature dense and durable texture. This careful craftsmanship ensures that the rugs are not only beautiful but also long-lasting and easy to maintain.
Peace Industry goes further by producing its own dyes from natural, plant-based sources, ensuring vibrant, sustainable colours. Their process relies on heat, water, and pressure, with minimal environmental impact. The finished rugs are reversible, offering two distinct designs in one product, allowing for versatility in interior spaces.
Beyond aesthetics, the felt structure absorbs sound, enhancing acoustic comfort and reducing noise. These rugs embody the value of tradition, sustainability, and innovation, making them both functional and meaningful. By supporting the continuation of this historic practice, Peace Industry preserves cultural heritage while offering a modern, eco-conscious product that stands the test of time.
