K5 Top 5 Questions With Lars Klixbüll

We catch up with Lars Klixbüll (CCO, Dan Dryer) this week to get a kick start on our health and wellbeing month.

For us at K5, we love Dan Dryer for their approach to design and particularly inclusivity. The Dan Dryer approach always includes considerations for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility or dexterity, such as strategic mounting heights, ergonomic interfaces, and clear operating instructions. By integrating touch-free sensors and other hands-free technologies, they also minimise contact points and caters to those who may struggle with traditional push-button mechanisms or simply prefer a more hygienic experience.

Beyond functionality, Dan Dryer recognises that noise levels can impact comfort and accessibility, so they incorporate quieter drying options that are more considerate for individuals with sensory sensitivities. High-quality materials like stainless steel, paired with easy-to-clean designs, support hygiene and durability for all users. With these features, Dan Dryer demonstrates a commitment to creating welcoming, accessible public washrooms that meet diverse needs and makes them our top pick for K5 for Health and Wellbeing.

Here is K5 Top 5 Questions with Lars Klixbüll:

K5: In your view, what are the most significant trends shaping bathroom design and functionality today?
Klixbüll: We see a clear move towards touchless technology, along with a focus on creating a space that’s both practical and elegant, almost spa-like.

K5: How do you see these trends evolving over the next five to ten years and how do you plan for them?
Klixbüll: We expect even greater emphasis on design, aesthetics, and user friendliness. Our approach is built on a blend of creativity and user-centred design. We emphasise the importance of continually evolving to meet market changes; exploring new trends, testing fresh ideas, and staying open to user feedback.

K5: What role do aesthetics and design play in fostering that sense of calm and comfort?
Klixbüll: It’s central. A unified aesthetic helps minimise distractions, ensuring users feel at ease. We offer products in a uniform design to create a cohesive, calming environment. Matching finishes reduce visual clutter and noise, making the space feel more harmonious and serene.

K5: How is Dan Dryer addressing the growing demand for sustainable products?
Klixbüll: During product development, we consider our carbon footprint. This includes manufacturing locally where possible and opting for reusable materials. We’ve stopped using chrome finishes, we use recycled aluminium, and all our soap dispensers have refillable containers.

K5: In public spaces, bathrooms must withstand heavy use while still providing a pleasant environment. How do you strike that balance?
Klixbüll: Most of our products are made from stainless steel to endure heavy use. Our upcoming hand dryer has undergone one million activations through testing! This ensures every new product meets our high-quality standards which we pair with robust construction and well-designed accessories to create a functional yet inviting atmosphere.
